Episode #32: Non-Hormonal Contraceptives– Birthing a New You!
This holiday season, I was gifted with a gift that keeps on giving. Omicron! Yup, round two with Covid, except this time it feels like a nasty cold with loss of taste and smell. I'm taking all the right supplements, including massive quantities of homemade soup, sleeping 12 hours a night, and letting it ride out.
I recorded this podcast a few days before testing positive for Omicron and am delighted to share it with you today.
The backstory for this episode involves my niece, Laura Mazza Hobbs- a freelance fashion stylist, multidisciplinary artist, wife, and mom. We speak regularly, and I reached out for a chat a week after my previous podcast– Is Your Birth Control Controlling YOU?
At the time, Laura was between flights while heading to a photo shoot in Montana. We had a few minutes to catch up before she boarded her next connection. We discussed the episode, and Laura said it sounded like her personal story on and off hormonal contraceptives and eventually deciding a natural hormonal-free approach best suited her emotionally, energetically, and creatively.
I felt Laura would be the perfect guest on today's episode. Her story exemplifies why more and more women are getting off hormone-based birth control due to side effects that include anxiety, depression, low libido, inability to orgasm, and a sense of flatness.
Please join Laura and Aunt Meg as we discuss hormone based contraceptives and explore non-hormonal birth control options, including the copper IUD, The Fertility Awareness Method, and the fertility tracker Daysy.
Knowing your birth control options is powerful because an informed decision allows you to decide what is best for you. A non-hormonal approach is an incredible option to consider. Maybe it's time to consider birthing a new you.
Happy New Year, my sweet lovelies!
